Australia Websters

Home Australia Descendants Histories

Israel Webster, later known as James Webster, was a sailor. He was born about 1820 in Wymondham, Norfolk County, England. He traveled to Australia in 1850 and purchased 2 acres of land in the Melbourne area. He later sold that land and was lured to the gold fields that were active in Maliagul and Avoca. He eventually settled in Glenpatrick (The Glen). He married Emma Morris on June 14, 1860 in Melbourne, and he died September 12, 1911 in Melbourne.

The information about the Australian members of our family has come from family records and newspaper accounts. This information includes that provided by Dorothy Robinson (through a rtf file) and Ron Forsyth (through his book on the Glen), both descendants-in-law of Israel (James) Webster, and information from other people via familysearch.org None of the information has been substantiated with genealogical records.
